The Storm That Was Scary
The sky darkened in an instant.
BeeBee looked up.
The clouds were turning gray, then very gray.
“Brrr…” she murmured.
A first clap of thunder rumbled in the distance.
Inside the hive, the little bees started to get restless.
“I’m scared!"
"What if the rain breaks the flowers?"
"What if the wind blows too hard?”
BeeBee felt her heart beat faster.
The storm was loud, very loud.
CRACK!
A flash of lightning lit up the garden.
“Stop!” said BeeBee, raising her wings. “Let’s listen carefully.”
Everyone went quiet.
“What if we played a game?” BeeBee suggested.
“A game? During a storm?” asked the others, surprised.
“Yes. With every thunder, we count to three.
With every flash of lightning, we imagine a shape in the sky.”
Thunder rumbled again.
“One… two… three!” they said together.
A bolt of lightning streaked across the sky.
“It looks like a tree!"
"No, a dragon!"
"I see a funny zigzag!”
Little by little, laughter replaced the trembling.
The rain drummed on, but the fear faded away.
When the storm finally calmed, the garden sparkled with a thousand water droplets.
“Actually,” said a little bee, “it wasn’t so terrible after all.”
BeeBee smiled.
She had learned something important:
fear becomes smaller when you face it together… and with a bit of imagination.
