The Wolf and the Lamb

The Wolf and the Lamb

The reason of the strongest is always the best:
We shall shortly show this to be so.

A Lamb was quenching his thirst
In the current of a pure stream.
A hungry Wolf came along, looking for adventure,
Drawn to this place by hunger.

โ€œHow dare you muddy the water I am drinking?โ€
Said the beast, full of rage.

โ€œSire,โ€ replied the Lamb, โ€œmay Your Majesty
Not be angry with me;
But rather let him consider
That I am drinking downstream,
More than twenty paces below him,
And that consequently, in no way
Can I be muddying his drink.โ€
