The Cat Who Wanted to Fly
A little cat upon the sill
Watches birds take off at will.
โOh, how I wish that I could fly,
And roam about the open sky!โ
He leaps up high, his paws all spread,
Flaps his โwingsโ โ but falls instead.
Down he tumbles, feeling small,
Flat upon the rug, thatโs all.
A sparrow lands beside him there:
โYou cannot fly through open air,
But see how you climb trees with grace,
And leap so lightly, any place!โ
The cat perks up, his frown undone โ
No bird, but still a clever one!
He climbs, he pounces, light as air,
Proud to be a cat, beyond compare.
