The Colors of Autumn
Autumn paints the leaves in gold,
In fiery red and brown, all told.
The wind gathers them up to twirl,
In a wild and joyful whirl.
Chestnuts tumble down the lane,
Hidden in their prickly chain,
We scoop them up with eager hands,
Humming songs as autumn stands.
Rain boots tumble from the shelf,
We jump in puddles by ourselves.
The schoolbag heads to class once more,
Beneath trees bare that were leafed before.
The colors of the fall, so sweet,
Red and orange, a cozy treat.
Soon the winter turns all white,
But for now, we hold this light.
